Can You Go Skiing in the Costa del sol?

,

We often get asked some fun and unexpected questions about life on the Costa del Sol—and this week’s question is definitely one of our favourites:

“Can you go skiing in Mijas Costa?”

Well… not exactly!

In this week’s 2-Minute Tuesday video, Keith and Sophia clear up the confusion. While Mijas Costa itself doesn’t get any snow (unless you count the white sand beaches!), skiing is absolutely possible — and surprisingly accessible!

Just over two hours’ drive from Mijas Costa, you’ll find the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Granada. It’s home to one of Europe’s most southern ski resorts, offering a full range of pistes for all levels, a vibrant ski village, and even the chance to ski in the morning and be back at the beach in time for a sunset swim. 🌅

What makes Sierra Nevada so special?

  • 🚗 Easy access: Drive from the coast, park underground, hop in the elevator — and you’re on the lift in minutes!
  • ❄️ Reliable snow: With a long season and great snow-making infrastructure, you can enjoy a proper winter sports experience.
  • 🏖️ The ultimate contrast: Where else can you ski and sunbathe in the same day?

So while you can’t ski in Mijas Costa, you can definitely live the best of both worlds nearby.
